Miranda Cosgrove reflects on stalker who lit himself on fire and fatally shot himself

Miranda Cosgrove is still struggling to overcome the fear linked to the horrific stalking incident she endured nearly a decade ago.

“That's another reason I go back and forth to my parents' house a lot,” the former Nickelodeon star admitted in an interview with Bustle Friday. “I don't feel completely safe in this house.”

Eight years ago, Cosgrove, now 30, was pursued by a man who ended up setting himself on fire and shooting himself in her yard.

The former child star said a man set himself on fire and shot himself in her yard after stalking her.
“I don't feel completely safe in this house,” she told Bustle.

However, before ending his life, he shot a woman who happened to be driving around the “iCarly” alumni's house — thinking she was the actress.

“For two years after it happened, I wouldn't have stayed there,” Cosgrove admitted.

“Then I got into a relationship and because I had that person with me, I was less afraid. But I don't really like being out there alone that much.”

The “Leave It All to Me” singer said the woman who was accidentally shot went up to her at an event at Kitten Rescue LA years later and told her, “I didn't know if I should tell you this here or how to say this, but I actually… The girl who was in your house who got shot.

“She seemed to process things in a similar way to how I do,” Cosgrove said.

Cosgrove's stalker has been lurking in her neighborhood trying to find her.
The man reportedly shot his neighbor – thinking she was Cosgrove.

The “Drake & Josh” alumna shared that she set a “big goal” for herself to find a place where she feels “really safe” to “kind of start a new chapter” — but she hasn't found it yet.

Cosgrove is one of many celebrities who have fallen victim to stalking. Kendall Jenner, Ariana Grande, and most recently Taylor Swift have all been illegally stalked by obsessed fans.

In January, Swift's stalker was arrested three times in just a matter of days because he was lurking around the pop star's deck in New York City and trying to get into her home.

The Voice alumna Christina Grimmie was tragically shot and killed by a stalker in June 2016 during a meet-and-greet after one of her concerts.

Although Cosgrove has been affected by one of the downsides of the industry, she has managed to live a very healthy life for the most part.

Last December, the “Mother of the Bride” star said she had never drunk or smoked in her life.

“I think it started because I was always the designated driver when I went out with my friends, and I kind of loved taking on that role and got used to it and just kind of stuck with it forever,” Cosgrove said on the “Good Guys” podcast at the time.
