Tommy was previously married to Peter Zurkuhlin for five years until 2022.
In 2021, Tomei opened up about her transition and how it affected her relationship with Peter.
“It’s weird being 29 and going through adulthood again,” Dorfman told Time magazine. “Some days I feel like I’m 14. As a result of this shift, the types of romantic partnerships I’m looking for have been different.”
Tommy explained: “I was in a nine-year relationship, where I was seen as a more masculine person, with a gay man. I love him very much, but we’ve learned that as a trans woman, what matters to me isn’t necessarily reflected in a gay man.”
She continued, “We had great conversations to redefine our relationship as friends. The transition has been liberating and clarifying.”
